    Available in print and online. The Physical Review collection of journals is the most prestigious set of physics journals published in the world. Along with its British counterpart, the Journal of Physics collection (see above in this section), the various components of the Physical Review comprise the core research literature of the field. Like many other journals in the sciences, the Physical Review has been subdivided into a number of sections that cover specific branches and subdisciplines of physics. Section A covers the area of atomic, molecular, and optical physics and related fundamental concepts. Specific subjects found in this title include quantum mechanics; quantum information theory; atomic and molecular structure and dynamics; collisions and interactions (including interactions with surfaces and solids); clusters (including fullerenes); atomic and molecular processes in external fields; matter waves (including Bose-Einstein condensation); and quantum optics. Full-length articles, brief reports, comments, and short rapid communications are all included. Letters are published in the related Physical Review Letters (see below). As in all of the sections of the Physical Review, the number of articles and pages published is tremendous, with more than 2,500 articles and 20,000 pages per year. However, the refereeing process is highly selective, rejecting more than half of all articles submitted. The large number of papers published has led to a paper/page system, instead of consecutively numbered pages. Color images are not published in the print edition but are included in the web version of appropriate papers.
